Flights to Italy – September 16/17, 2017

Both flights left and arrived on time and, in fact, the flight from Atlanta to Rome arrived 20 minutes earlier than scheduled.  We had perfect flying weather and a smooth flight all the way with a nice sunset at 40,000 ft.

Our flight took us across France and then above the Mediterranean (Tyrrhenien Sea)
with some gorgeous views of the Italian coast.

Upon arrival in Rome, we were fortunate that there no line at passport control and we breezed right through to get our luggage and meet up with Joni McClain to share a 30 minute ride to via Nomentana 34. Mary Virginia and Carolyn Brockland met us at Le Orsoline and we were able to check in right away.  We unpacked, relaxed, showered, and went out for a late lunch and a walk in the neighborhood.  The weather in Rome was perfect with blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70’s.
Several members of the group (Terry, Lauri, Sandy, Jan, and Val) arrived either yesterday or this afternoon and we met them later in the day.  Sandy, Joni, Jan, Val, Bev, and I gathered at 7:30 pm for a brief walk to I Butteri for dinner where we had a table adjacent to a large open window for a most enjoyable time.  Tomorrow morning we have a free morning and will all gather at 2:30 pm for an afternoon tour of San Clemente.
